It’s no secret that there’s always a battle going on over who’s in charge of the remote control in a small family with only one telly. That is also what happened in my home for the last three years. I had that battle with my sisters during my bachelor era although only in small frequency since I studied in a boarding school. Now it’s my wife’s turn. We had a peaceful pact before but since the programme on TV keep changing all the time, the pact becoming ineffective.
I don’t really know what started my flirt affection with football because I only had it in the last ten years ever since I started to play Championship Manager in my pc during the college years. At first I barely know the system of play let alone the beauty of the game, but the devotion beginning to boost each year gone by. Now it comes to the phase when my wife can sum it up in one sentence: If Manchester United win, she’s safe. That is because every time a bad patch going on for my beloved team I would be all grumpy and rather fuming the whole lot all day. Funny that she always wants to hide in the closet whenever the game started, but I guess that’s just sarcastic exaggeration.
So when I woke up at 2 o’clock this morning and found my team playing against its most bitter enemy in the shape of those graceless Arsenal twats, drowsiness replaced by uncontrollable and unexplainable anxiety and suddenly I was fully awoken. And without a rival fighting for the remote since Ira was soundly sleeping I can enjoy the amusement to the fullest. The game itself showed every quality that is to like about football. It got controversies, male testosterone with high flying and crunching tackles, luscious class of dribbling and close control. Leadership, wit, and passion battled each other in the field for 90 minutes.
And the most pleasing thing is that Manchester United winning it with a rout of a thriller 4-2 score line. Over the years the fixture has been riled with infuriated rivalry. From last year’s Battle of Old Trafford to the Pizza Gate incident back in October, there have been punches given back and forth. But this time the hype really is rewarded with some of the best tussle ever seen in a football match.
By the point it was all over, the alarm bell to wake me up has passed 5 o’clock so it’s about time to take my shower and get ready for work. When I get to decide what to wear today I stumbled across my Red Devil replica shirt and remember thinking, 'Hm… it'd be cool wearing it just to winding up the other lot... well, why not?'. A few eyebrows were indeed raised today in the office seeing me with the red top but I just went on smiling and gave a winning smirk especially to the bunch of ‘Anything But United’ brigade blokes over here.
Hehehe, the bragging right is mine today, mate.

Supporting for a big team shows us your real weakness !!!
ReplyDelete:P
Go Spurs go........
Good :) so supporting a lousy team now show your strength :p
ReplyDeleteMan, that is some deep thinking ... :D
It was a big team, when we got Gazza and Lineker....but now we find a glimmer of hope with Carrick and Defoe...
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what happens if Ronaldo plans to leave...his wage is too low for a player with his calibre.....
Who's 'we' ? hehehe ... naah Spurs is okay ....
ReplyDelete"his wage is too low for a player with his calibre"
Sounds familiar ... like an FM2005 phrase hehe. Anyway, United isn't all about Ronaldo, there's always rooney, rio, smiffy, fletcher, and even sheasy for the future. Mix it all up with experienced stars like Ruud, Keano, Scholesy, and Giggs and the future looks RED
Hmmm...yeach!
ReplyDeleteYUp....I managed to get Borro finished my second year in top three in the premier league !! :D
ReplyDeleteRooney <---- he is not a target man just like Ruud, he prefers to have a through ball or one two combination not swinging crosses from both side....and needs to find his best performance...
Giggs <---- Inter is still not cooling their intention to this player even though Sir Alex thought he is not palying his best this season (last night was not counted)
Keane <--- he is getting old and fragile (most of his time is for recovering from his injuries, but as the key player...he is indispensable player, which forced Sir Alex to sell Djemba-jemba, put Liam Miller on loan and holding Kleberson as a subs of the year...
Scholes <--- finally found his best after 6 month playing without any goals...
Ruud <--- there will be rumour that Ruud is available for transfer.....
Smith <---- he is too temperamental player, which can hold him from showing his best to the world...
Rio ... yeah you're definitely know what makes him the best defender in the league....( I agree with u)
But for the shining stars.... I put my hope on Richardson, Caroll and O'Shea...
For this year....mine is stil struglling to reach the top of middle-half league (Am I right?) for the top seat will be for the Blues.....
Hehehe, me and the lads at the office also addicted to it. We're playing thru' network and the honours has been quite even between me and one of the mate, yet the others continue to keep their throphyless season till now. It's Serie A tho'...
ReplyDeleteRegarding the players, yeah Rooney is not meant to be a target man, United will still get a hold of Ruud for another three or four years (the rumour is complete bollocks). Didn't you see two top class strikes from him against the Boro ? Brilliant ... One is a cheeky lob and the other is van Basten-esque volley to top corner.
Keano, Giggsy, and Scholes still have one or two years between them.
Smiffy and Heinze add a lil bit of steel and grit to the side, granted they're not the most talented of footballers but their commitment and determination is 20, hehehe.
I was addiected playing Serie A, but I prefer Premier League....there will be a lot of fun managing English Club....
ReplyDeleteYeah... Ruud is the best striker in the world especially in six yard box, but as Rooney star is brightening, he will be forced out of team..... he couldn't resist to play as a subtituting player (beside cost reduction will be the right issue then), especially since Rooney is the three lions mascot now, replacing Owen.
Heinze ? Nope you got it all wrong, dude.... he wouldn't give his best in United, he need to move to a team with more continental style in the pitch.... Chelsea for example...or move to Spain or Italy....
And another stars is Spector from US and Eagles......
hehehehehe....(I was a big fan of the Red Devil when they still had Cantona around)
I think Ruud and Rooney CAN play together, they are such a completely different type of striker, Ruudy is a pure bomber, toiling inside the box while Rooney can run thru' channels pinging the defense left and right more like Henry plays in Arse. That would make United adopt 4-4-1-1 again much like in the treble season. Right now coz of Ruud's injury Fergie had to adopt playing 4-3-3 while Ronaldo and Giggs exchanging wings like Robben and Duff operating in Chelsea. As soon as Ruud return they will go back with two strikers again.
ReplyDeleteHeinze, well ... according to many pundits, he's been a revelation this season, considerably the best signing in premiership this time around. You can read one of the many articles about him in here.
The jury still out on Spector, Eagles, and Rossi.
Ooh aah Cantona ... yeah ... those were the days, Le Roi is gone tho' and United will still be there or thereabouts.
It is expired.....*hiks* I actually like to see if they were playing in 4-2-2-1-1....with 2 defensive midfielder (Keane-Kleberson/Miller) or we forced O'Shea up front as midfielder. In the left flank, there is Giggs and Ronaldo will be the right wing..
ReplyDeleteSir Alex can put Rooney/Scholes as a hole striker to support Ruud as the target man...
:D
What am I doing with United Scheme anyway ????
The link is still there I guess, or ... you can just google up news about Heinze and Smith.
ReplyDeleteAbout United scheme, I don't think Sir Alex only had one stiff formation because each opponent will be treated with different formation and along with the availability of the players. I've seen him played 4 strikers in one go and still on the losing side.
I will have a bit of dilemma when United face Milan in the next round of Champions League ... probably will just toss up a coin for it.
That was against the Pompeys 0-2 !! hehehehehe....Sempet nonton juga..
ReplyDeleteChampions League ? I think Milan, Barca and Chelsea is the best contender for the trophy...unfortunatley Chelsea and Barca have to eliminate each other...
:D
Yuckoss.. me a liverpool fan. bleh bleh bleh..
ReplyDeleteWe're enemy then :D
ReplyDeleteOh...tentu sekali!
ReplyDeleteIhik, tambah musuh lagi deh satu. Why God ... why? :) :)
