since nowadays you see in the media there's so much pressures for people to look 'beautiful' (specially for female -- so much for women's lib!)... that sometimes make up alone is not enough...
have you ever seen the reality show "extreme make over"?? :'-D i wouldnt want to go through all that even if they've paid me!
yepp i can relate to that, not only in the media, in everyday life i've heard 'heru you look sooo fat! go and join the gym' ... and i'm a guy for crying out loud :) ... but hey ... by doing such pressure to society, it turns the wheel of the economy, they can sell all this beauty product, spa, advertisement etc. (This is me being overly positive trying to find the 'hikmah' behind everything hahaha)
Btw, can you imagine if everyone is as goodlooking ? there would be less fun in watching television and reading magazines as there would be no superstar and celebrities :D ...
--- ps ... with the flash thingy --- I know sometimes programmer and developer really despise flash, infact there's a saying that flash is the cancer of the web. I partially agree with that as it's very easy to find over elaboration and all this visual gimmick that are not necessarily effective. But flash can be quite good if used properly. Like this site for example, where flash really put to the limit of user friendliness and interactivity.
what are you saying? it's okay for guys to be fat, but not okay for girls? :-P *LOL*... just kidding... i know what u mean.... true about the economy 'benefits' as well, but the media's standard of 'beauty' is over the top sometimes....
fortunately, some of the women mags here have become more accepting of women who are not super-thin or perfect-looking, and actually use their average readers to model some of the clothes, which is more representative of the typical women anyways... good on them, i say... :-)
PS: i have no problem with flash at all... just like programming, if you do it well, it's a great tool, and i have seen sites out there that make use of flash very well... ;-)
Actually i have seen a magazine using a bunch of housemaid to become their models, hehehe and i remember thinking ah this is not because they put the housemaid in high esteem. It's more like just their way to make the mag unique to boost the sell. The same angle with the magz you mentioned, not because they're supporting the egality of womenkind :D
Ah... hope the above sentences make sense at all :D
i would agree with you regarding using housemates as a marketing ploy... but i think the ones here who uses their readers to model do it as a regular thing... and they do write up articles on positive women image as well no matter what their sizes, and such... so there's hope yet...! ;-P
That's very good then. Hm ... i hope they will be using that kind of approach in magz and tv here (and by here i mean Indonesia - our 'kampung halaman' hihihi) anytime soon. But come to think of it, hm maybe for the male reader and viewer it's no good don't you think? hehehe we need some kind of visual eye candy too you know. It won't hurt to view the faces of Charlize Theron or Jennifer Aniston or any other beauty as the cover. Or to some extent Dian Sastro (eh kamu jangan2 nggak tau lagi ya siapa Dian Sastro ... eh tau ding kan udah nonton AADC ya ) Much like the case that, you (women) crave for the faces of Tom Cruise and or Brad Pitt (who's your favorite hunk btw?) ...
eye candy, eh? i guess the business of 'beauty' really revolves around pleasing male then... why am i not surprised.... :'-P
i dont think women as much a visual creature as men.... i heard many discussion about that as well.... and hence, for muslims, women are asked to cover up bcoz men cant be trusted not too look... hehehhe....
my days of drooling over male celebrities are over, unfortunately... i dont buy into the image thing anymore.... but i look at what the celeb characters as well... besides, usually it's really the character that the celeb plays in a movie that i have a crush on... hwahwhaahwa.... but not a serious thing....
to answer your question, i was never really into tom cruise... but brad pitt's a definitely a 'pretty' boy, no one can argue with that... ;-P dont really have a favourite though, the next 'hot' thing is always ready to pop up around the corner, anyhow.... i just sit back and enjoy the view... *LOL*... :-D
For a while there i thought your favorite hunk would be Bobba Fett or Linus Torvalds huehehehe ...
I always thought that women and men are equal in the vanity business, the difference probably that men express it out in the open in some nonchalant way while women prefer to utter it in whispers no ? Hehehe ... But i come to realize now that we can not categorize anymore that women is like this and men is like that because the border hardly exist anymore.
*LOL*... geez, thanks.... but i dont even use linux, so you might as well say bill gates..! X-P and for bobba fett.. i dont even know what he looks like... heheh hmm... i guess i'm in trouble now that people really think that i'm very much into bobba fett.... *giggles*.. it's just a game i used to play with my bro, really... if i were a guy, i'm sure people wont think i have a crush on him or anything... o well... like i said, it's hard being a girl....
hmm? not aware that women dont speak out about drooling over hunks... all the women i know do it openly.... :-P hehe... that's why stereotypes exist.... it's a generic way to look at people of different gender/ethnic/religion/race.... but in reality, you have to know and judge someone on a person-to-person basis....
Hehe you're not gonna throw me the monitor instead you're thanking me :D
About women salivating over hunks, yeah i'm quite familiar as i've seen several examples from my previous office :D (hope they're not reading this hahaha). Wah, I've been acting so gossipy now i might aswell replace Ted Casablanca.
Speaking about 'character' behind 'looks' seems like Bridget Jones Diary The Edge of Reason will venture deeper in that matter. I just saw the trailer here. What do you think, is it gonna be as good as the predecessor ? :)
would you rather i throw a monitor at you? i'll gladly oblige... >:-P anyways, i was being sarcastic thanking you.... heheh...
hmm... yeah, i really look forward to bridget jones 2... cant watch the trailer yet, though, coz i'm having trouble installing quicktime at the moment... will check it out at the office... hehe
no no no... me not mocking... me serious...!!! I can do a little flash but nothing fancy really... that is why I want to learn more from you... :D still not mocking.
I was being ironic to notice that your thanking me hehehe [debat kusir apa bahasa inggrisnya ya ?]
Aren't you on holiday today what's with the Queen's Birthday :D ? In here we should propose that anytime a president's birthday come we should make it a holiday too ... and while we're at it, add the ministers' birthday also . If one thing is lacking here in Indonesia is the number of holidays.
I used to make a tutorial site when it was only flash 3 a while ago. Now it is sooo outdated. But for today i always find tutorial and flash discussion really-really helpful in Flashkit. I'm sure with your ability to mix colour and the delicate taste would easily master flash. Your problem probably to allocate and spare time to open it right ? Especialy with a cute and lively li'l daughter running in circles around you :).
i've finally fixed my quicktime installation and watched the trailer...
looks good... but seems to be repeating the storyline from the first one (hehe... what else to expect from sequels, anyways... :-P), ie. darcy vs. cleaver fighting over bridget... i'll definitely watch it tho... ;-)
Yeah i was wondering about that too, it still lingers about the insecurity of bridget being this a bit overwight and rather clumsy female. Maybe we can expect some unexpected twist in the end. It's quite stupid to repeat the story as it was :D :D [well maybe the producer is THAT stupid]
well.. it was quite a compelling story the first time.... ... and, in most cases, if the formulae works the first time, then they're bound to repeat it in the sequels.... :-D
in bridget's case, i guess her insecurities are what make her human and fun to watch too... if you got 100% confident bridget then there's no more story to tell, is it? :-P
Yeah, way to go Bridget ... I wonder if hugh grant's character can redeem himself in the next installment ... or is he still be that likeable a**ehole he supposed to be. Anyway ... how is your weekend ? I just finished watching The Ring (the one with Naomi Watts) ... and was a bit jumpy hehehe.
hey.. i thought you're s'posed to do work on the weekend? noty, noty... hehehe..
.. and also you said you're not into horror movies, hmm? whatever happens to 'sliding doors'??? :-P anyways, you should've watched the original japanese version instead... sadako is waaay spookier than samara....! >:-D
my weekend got off to a lazy start.. but i should do my chores again soon *boring*... X-P
Yeah ... I'm so lazy ... i need a kick in the rear really ... i'm at home tho ... starting my computer so it's a big step.
The Ring was on HBO so frequent this month so i catches in glimpse and thinking, hell why not watch it completely then... I regret that now, my next month will be filled with imagining scary things at the back of my head. I should definitely get those sappy love stories soon then to get rid of it.
Thanks about the offer to watch the Japan version, but nope ... this one is scary enough for me. Naomi Watts is nice tho' :)
cool.. emang sih aku tahu bisa naro flash di sini.. tapi belom2 juga sempet bikin khusus buat multiply :D
ReplyDeletebtw where do you work?
that was fun.. how about one for a virtual plastic surgery now? :-P
ReplyDeleteIya aku juga belum sempet buat khusus untuk multiply, makanya kemarin iseng naroh porto lama...

I can never understand why in the name of God, there are plenty of women adore Nicholas Cage , he's no hunk at all. [run heru ruuun hehehe]

in bridget's case, i guess her insecurities are what make her human and fun to watch too...
if you got 100% confident bridget then there's no more story to tell, is it? :-P
True, but I was kinda hoping the story would turn to other kind of insecurities and change of fortune for poor Bridget hehehe...
ReplyDeletethat would require her to under go a personal development courses, if not, a slimming course.... :-D
ReplyDelete... and what do you mean poor bridget? she's got two cute guys fighting over her... it's more like: lucky bridget!!! *LOL*
ReplyDeletei doubt he'll redeemed himself... *LOL*
ReplyDeletehey.. i thought you're s'posed to do work on the weekend? noty, noty... hehehe..
.. and also you said you're not into horror movies, hmm? whatever happens to 'sliding doors'??? :-P
anyways, you should've watched the original japanese version instead... sadako is waaay spookier than samara....! >:-D
my weekend got off to a lazy start.. but i should do my chores again soon *boring*... X-P
Yeah ... I'm so lazy ... i need a kick in the rear really ... i'm at home tho ... starting my computer so it's a big step.
